Kiev claims that Russian forces fired at Ukrainian soldiers who wanted to surrender
Ukrainian authorities today accused the Russian army of shooting at Ukrainian soldiers who wanted to surrender. An investigation has been launched by the Ukrainian Prosecutor's Office, and a video showing Russian soldiers shooting unarmed Ukrainian soldiers has been published on the Internet, Ukrinform reported.
The authenticity of the video and the circumstances under which it was recorded have not yet been confirmed. According to initial information, the event took place near the village of Stepovo, in the Pokrovsk region, which includes Avdijevka and surrounding areas.
The Commissioner for Human Rights in the Ukrainian Parliament Dmytro Lyubinets said that he will appeal to the International Committee of the Red Cross and the United Nations to register another war crime committed by the Russian Federation - the execution of unarmed Ukrainian defenders who wanted to surrender.
The video first appeared on Saturday on DeepState, a Ukrainian Telegram channel, and the post said the footage came from the front lines near Avdiyevka, where heavy fighting has taken place in recent weeks.
Official Kremlin denies these allegations.
