Russia has taken Belarus as a "nuclear hostage", Kiev judged today, after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the deployment of nuclear weapons on Belarusian territory.
"The Kremlin has taken Belarus as a nuclear hostage," Ukrainian Security Council Secretary Oleksiy Danilov tweeted.
He added that this decision is "a step towards international destabilization of the country".
Putin has threatened to use depleted uranium shells in Ukraine if Kiev receives them from the West.
He added that Moscow will deploy "tactical" nuclear weapons on the territory of its ally Belarus, a country located at the door of the European Union.
