Monkey pox should not worry citizens, because it does not ce they spread easily as which is the case with COVID-19. The Infectious Diseases Commission does not expect a dramatic development or serious spread of monkeypox.

So far in the country were two suspected cases were reported, a resident of Kičević who refuses to be tested, and a migrant hospitalized at the Clinic for Infectious Diseases, who is negative for the test.

Due to the fact that there is no legal possibility for the patient from Kichevo to be "forced" to be tested, the Commission for Infectious Diseases announced after yesterday's meeting that it will submit a proposal to the Minister of Health to propose health surveillance of this person.

this, as as explained by the KZB spokesperson, dr Zlate Mehmedović, will mean that according to that procedure they will have a clearance, that is, with the help of the State Sanitary Health Inspectorate and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, they will be able to locate the person in order to ce test.

Previously, the Commission recommended the introduction of isolation/quarantine measures, i.e. isolation in home or hospital conditions of suspected cases of monkeypox until they are tested, isolation of confirmed cases in home or hospital conditions until the end of the disease or healing of the scabs. as and daily epidemiological contact tracing of confirmed monkeypox cases during the 21-day incubation period den. This decision has been submitted to the Ministry of Health, in order to ce take all necessary preventive measures.

All citizens who show symptoms of monkeypox, as what the president of the Commission on Infectious Diseases said, dr Aleksandar Petlichkovski needs to be contacted by the family doctor, and then if there is any doubt, he will be sent to the Infectious Diseases Clinic.

Testing for monkeypox can ce did at the Institute of Public Health, where currently, as as Petlichkovski informed, there are about 3300 tests.

– Patients with monkeypox ce contagious when their symptoms begin. Symptoms can be rash, painful lymph nodes, elevated temperature. The most contagious is the secretion from the skin changes, and therefore the pimples can be covered, when the person needs to go to the doctor. From here, there is no mandatory isolation of either the patients or the contacts, informed Petlichkovski.

According to data from the World Health Organization, Europe is currently the most affected by monkeypox. The WHO European region accounts for about 55 percent of the confirmed cases of monkeypox in the world in the past month alone, and four countries in Europe (Spain, United Kingdom, Germany and France), reported 76 percent of the cases.

The special representative of the regional director of the World Health Organization for Europe in North Macedonia, dr In a statement to MIA, Anne Johansen recommended that even in countries that have not yet reported cases of monkeypox, public health authorities need to rapidly and significantly strengthen national capacities for surveillance, testing, diagnostics and contact tracing, all with aim to ce identify and follow up any possible case.

According to the data of the American Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in the world until August 9 ce a total of 31 cases of monkeypox were reported.
