Kenya has serious drought problems, with over one million animals starving to death

The Red Cross of Kenya called on the international community to help the 3,1 million people affected by the country's drought Anatolia.

According to local media, the Kenyan Red Cross said the drought had hit 3,1 million Kenyans and sought help from the international community.

The Red Cross also asked for support from NGOs and humanitarian organizations to raise awareness of the disaster.

The worst drought in East Africa since the 1980s has left nearly 13 million people starving.

The fact that rainfall was much lower than expected in three consecutive rainy seasons triggered a new food crisis.

In Kenya, drought has reached alarming levels. 1,5 million animals have died so far due to lack of food and water.

Areas of drought alert are Baringo, Isiolo, Mandera, Marsabit, Samburu, Turkana, Wajir, Kilifi, Lamu, Nyeri, West Pokémon, Laikipi and Garissa.

The United Nations says cattle have died from drought and families have fled their homes due to water shortages and food problems.

The lack of clean water has led to the spread of epidemics through migration, reports Anatolia.
