New paths will be built and the old paths on Vodno and Matka will be reconstructed

The construction of a downhill "mountaineering" mountain bike path on the slopes of Vodno will begin soon, which will complete the first set of mountain bike paths along which cyclists will be able to reach Sredno Vodno and again, down another mountain path to descend. Skopje.

With the rise of temperatures, the citizens of Skopje, but also a large number of citizens from the interior of the country, as well as foreign tourists, seek shade by climbing Vodno or visiting Matka. Besides recreational visits, these two tourist places in the Skopje region are extremely attractive for sports lovers who usually climb Vodno by bicycle or visit Matka and thus enjoy the natural beauties more closely. However, many of the cyclists note to the authorities that it is necessary to further invest in the construction of footpaths for pedestrians, but also for cyclists, and thus these two locations near Skopje become even more visited.

In order to motivate the citizens of Skopje, but also the visitors who, although they do not ride a professional bicycle, to be able to visit Matka and Vodno with this ecological means of transportation, the city authorities are announcing numerous projects.

- Soon the construction of a downhill "mountaineering" mountain bike path on the slopes of Vodno will begin, which will complete the first set of mountain bike paths along which cyclists will be able to reach Sredno Vodno and again, on another mountain path to descend to the city of Skopje. The people of Skopje have been waiting for the downhill "flow" path for a long time, because it is a path with a very low downhill and precisely performed curves and slopes. Also, through another public procurement, an economic operator has been selected that will maintain the new mountain bike paths on Vodno throughout the season. In this way, the mountain bike trails will be constantly maintained and in the best shape - informed by the City of Skopje.

Regarding the mountain Vodno and the contents, the City of Skopje informs that project documentation for a park for development of children's motorcycle has been provided, and the administrative procedure for procurement of project documentation for other contents of the study for the tourist-recreational center Vodno has been started.

- These projects envisage children's playgrounds, summer houses, a panoramic promenade on the southern part of the ridge and paragliding take-offs. - explained by the City of Skopje.

For the Matka canyon, on the other hand, a public procurement has been announced for the reconstruction of the pedestrian paths on the Matka locality, which will be followed by the reconstruction of the paths and the urban equipment from Sv. Andrea (from the wedge) to Visok Rid (opposite the Vrelo cave) and the path from the Vrelo cave to the Ubava cave.

- Regarding the site Matka and the underwater cave Vrelo, which is predicted to be the deepest underwater cave in Europe, and which has been visited by several world-renowned diving teams, funds are provided for project documentation for reconstruction of equipment in this cave. We believe that these two public procurements will be realized by the end of the year, and through them the first part of the underwater cave Vrelo, ie the canal of 150 meters and an average depth of 10 to 15 meters, which leads from the entrance to the cave to Peoni Hall, with the help of trained guides for underwater diving will be available for commercial diving - say from the City of Skopje.
