Kavadarci is breathing hard tonight, polluted also in Bitola, Lisice, Strumica

Tonight, the air in Kavadarci is the most polluted compared to other cities across the country with a measured 226 mg/m3, which means a 4-fold increase in PM10 particles in the air from the permitted level (50mg/m3).

It is followed by Bitola with a measured 179 mg/m3, Kichevo with 176 mg/m3 and Skopje's Lisice with 165 mg/m3.

Slightly less polluted, but deep in the red parameters are Strumica with 164 and Gostivar 151 mg/m3 measured.

Otherwise, PM10 and PM2.5 particles are considered very harmful to the human body. Toxic air caused around 250.000 deaths across the European Union in 2021, the European Environment Agency (EEA) announced.
