We are categorically against increasing the age limit, says the Party for Pensioners

The party of pensioners is categorically against and does not accept the initiative to increase the threshold for retirement, which is now 64 years of life.

For the Party of Pensioners, the arguments of the proponents of such an initiative, which supposedly aims to improve the financial position of the PIO Fund, as well as to reduce dependence on the state budget, are also unacceptable and unreasonable.

The reasons for this attitude are:

- the increased dependence on the state budget, in this and the future period, for the regular payment of pensions, is not in any way related to and caused by the current legal threshold for exercising the right to an old-age pension, because, in the period since the adoption of this legal provision, until the Government's Decision on the linear adjustment of pensions, the dependence of the PIO Fund on the State Budget was continuously reduced.

- if the retirement threshold is raised to 67, the chances of employment of young personnel decrease and the pressure for them to go abroad increases.

- the life expectancy of citizens in the country, after retirement, and in general, due to worse living conditions than those in developed countries, is among the shortest in Europe.

- it is not realistic to expect the fulfillment of the employers' commitment to increased productivity from workers over the age of 64.

Because of the above, the Party of Pensioners, as the only political entity of pensioners in the country, supports the creation, exclusively and only, of policies that help our economy to achieve:

– opening of new and long-term sustainable jobs,

- increasing the total number of employees, especially young people, as well as regular payment of salaries and contributions.

- increasing all salaries and the real purchasing power of employees,

– reducing the gray economy, and

- increasing the percentage paid for salary contributions (PIO and FZO), if there is an acute need for intervention to protect the stability of the FPIO and regular payment of pensions, according to the party.
