Qatar has accused Israel of carrying out "collective genocide" in the Middle East
Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani claims the Middle East crisis is a "collective genocide" and that his country has always warned about Israel's "impunity".
- It has become crystal clear that what is happening is genocide, along with turning the Gaza Strip into an area unfit for human life, in preparation for displacement, he said during the summit of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue in Doha.
The Qatari Emir condemned both Israeli airstrikes and military operations "against the brotherly Lebanese Republic".
Israel strongly opposes accusations that it is committing genocide in Gaza, where it launched an offensive a year ago after Hamas militants attacked towns in southern Israel, killing 1.200 people and taking more than 250 citizens hostage.
More than 41.500 Gazans were killed during the Israeli assault, according to health officials in the Hamas-controlled territory.
This week, Israel launched a ground invasion of Lebanon to fight the Iranian-backed Lebanese Hezbollah movement.
