The Mayor of the Municipality of Tetova, Bilal Kasami held a press conference at which he announced details about the debts of the local self-government, as he announced at the session of the Council. He reminded that the debt is over 24 million euros.

- In order to be transparent, we are preparing through a monitor the debt of the municipality to be visible to the citizens on the square. The debt will also be published in detail on the website of the Municipality. Three weeks have passed and I am engaged to scan the situation in Tetovo. It is unfortunate how the municipality is left with many parts and numerous irregularities in all areas. The citizens deserve to know what is happening with our municipality, said Bilal Kasami.

The mayor asked the journalists that he has several activities with which he plans to reduce the debt. He said that he has engaged an internal audit that analyzes in detail the debt structure, and according to him there are debts of the Municipality for works that have been undertaken so far.

- During the next week, when we will have more specific information, I will publish a significant part of the debt that is made only through one institution or one natural person. That part will be reduced by appealing all decisions that have been made and a lawyer will be hired. house that will analyze all the procedures, ie what has not been done by the Municipality and we hope that the part that is not real will be removed from the obligations of the municipality. Another part that is towards the private sector - there I am in constant communication with all private operators who have proven initial readiness not to calculate the part of the default interest and not to charge it from us. They are also interested and have shown readiness in the part of the debt to reduce and the municipality to move forward, said Kasami.

He believes that the debts were made in the second term of the current mayor.

- The government repaid part of the debt to the municipalities. Since that moment, the municipality of Tetovo has declared 15 million debts, of which 7,5 million were paid by the Government. Since that moment, the Municipality of Tetova has 7,5 million debts. In just four years, Teuta Arifi's second term, that debt has increased to 24 million, of which 14 were created in just four years. Just three months before the election, there is a debt of three million euros for projects that have now been sent to the Anti-Corruption Commission to see if they are in accordance with the law. There is another part of the debt that will be appealed, all the people involved will be asked to give an answer, said Mayor Kasami.

According to the mayor, out of a total of 24 million euros of debts - 14 million are in the name of the Municipality of Tetova, the Public Utility Company (PCE) Tetovo owes 9,7 million euros, 187 thousand is the debt of PE City Parking and 77 thousand euros are owed by schools.
