Former US President Democrat Jimmy Carter, who will turn 1 on October 100, has expressed hope that he will live long enough to vote for Kamala Harris in November's presidential election.

Carter, who has been in hospice care since February 2023, said he wants to see his 100th birthday.

I'm just trying to hold on so I can vote for Kamala Harris, Carter said, according to his nephew Jason.

The grandson claims that in recent days Carter was "more alive and interested in politics and the war in Gaza."

The former leader of the Democrats, who "lived" in the White House from 1977 to 1981, is the oldest living American president.

Kamala Harris is convinced that she will be the candidate of the Democrats in the presidential elections, after the decision of the current president Joseph Biden to withdraw from the election race.
