Kamala Harris is officially the Democratic candidate for President of the United States
The American Vice President Kamala Harris received enough votes to become the Democratic candidate in the presidential elections in November, the chairman of the Democratic National Committee, Jamie Harrison, said today.
The online voting process ends on Monday, but she already received the majority of delegates' votes today.
"I'm honored to be a potential Democratic nominee," Harris told supporters.
The official nomination is expected to be finalized by August 7.
The current President of the United States of America, Joseph Biden, recently decided to withdraw from the presidential race, and gave Vice President Kamala Harris his full support to run in the upcoming presidential elections.
Joe Biden said in a letter published on the X social network that he will devote himself to his duties as the president of the country and that it is best for the country and the party to stay out of the race.
He thanked Kamala Harris because, as he said, she was an exceptional partner.
