How to distinguish a normal from a "deadly" cough?
Nowadays, many will immediately associate a cough with the coronavirus, but the truth is that if it is not transient and related to an allergy or a cold, a cough can also indicate much worse diseases such as lung cancer.
During the coronavirus pandemic, the focus was on the symptoms of respiratory diseases, and many found it difficult to distinguish a "normal" cough from a "deadly" one that could indicate lung cancer, Slobodna Dalmatia reports.
Therefore, if you notice any of these symptoms, it is necessary to call your doctor immediately:
– constant shortness of breath
– cough with blood
– a cough that lasts three weeks
Other common symptoms of lung cancer include:
– swelling of the face
– frequent infections
- blood clotting
– abnormally high calcium level
A timely visit to the doctor also enables a faster diagnosis of the disease, which increases the chances of prolonging life, scientists say.
Identifying and diagnosing cancer in the earliest stages is the most effective way to limit its spread, put it into remission and increase the chances of survival, British doctors point out.
