"Where is my child!?" An employee at the train station in Novi Sad describes the tragedy
"We were selling tickets at the train station in Novi Sad during the tragedy. There were not many crowds. "Suddenly we felt vibrations, we thought it might be an earthquake, and then we heard a loud bang, as if a bomb had fallen."
This is how one of the workers at the railway station in Novi Sad begins the story of Serbian "Blitz", which was only a few meters away from the scene of the tragedy.
Visibly upset, in shock, she describes how everything happened in a matter of seconds.
"We really thought that someone had thrown a bomb, because right before our eyes we saw everything collapsing on people. We ran out of the offices, but it was still shaking and everything was falling apart, and pieces of the structure were falling in 10-20 seconds, which seemed like an eternity.
"Where is my child?"
As she says, everything was horrible, shocking and terrifying.
"People were screaming, running towards the side entrance, and a colleague saw a woman running towards the collapsed entrance shouting: Where is my child, where is my child?" Then a man stopped her and pulled her to the other side to protect her so that nothing would fall on her. At that moment we didn't know if the agony was over or if the whole building would collapse. Some people fell, and others helped them up, and now that I think about it, I can simply say that people were humane, says the interlocutor.
