The MTV European Music Awards are one of the most important events in the world of music, where recognition is given to the most successful names who have left their mark during the last year.

This year's edition was a jubilee and marked 30 years since the first awarding of these awards. The event was held at the Co-op Arena in Manchester, Great Britain, and was hosted by the famous singer Rita Ora.

The American star made history again

Singer Taylor Swift was the biggest winner of the night, nominated in seven categories and winning in four – Best Artist, Best Video for "Fortnight", Best Live Performance, Best Live Performance and Best American Artist.
She made history again and became the first musician to win the Best Artist award three times.

Swift was unable to attend the event as she is currently preparing for the final leg of her Eras concert tour in Canada. However, she sent a video thanking her for the awards.

“I'm so sad I can't be there with you tonight. But thank you for these wonderful awards. The fact that I've been rewarded for the tour and what I've done with the studio album and the videos – it's amazing. "I really enjoyed myself during my concerts in Europe this summer," said Swift.

She also thanked the rapper Post Malone, with whom he recorded the song "Fortnight".

Sabrina Carpenter's "Espresso" is song of the year

Sabrina Carpenter, who is considered the greatest hope in pop music, won the award for the best song of the year, for her hit "Espresso". Unfortunately, she was also unable to attend the event due to her engagement with the Short and Sweet tour.

The singer Raje won Best British/Irish Artist and performed two of her songs.

The South African Star Tayla won the award for Best African Music, Best African Beat and Best African Artist. The young singer said she was "honored".

Ariana Grande, who was the biggest favorite of the evening, won only one award – for the best pop music.

The Pet Shop Boys won the Pop Pioneers Award for their 40 years in the music industry, and the rapper Busta Rhymes won the Global Icon Award.

Host Rita Ora paid special tribute to the singer Liam Payne, who died on October 16 at the age of 31.

"Liam Payne was one of the kindest people I knew. He had the biggest heart and always helped everyone. "He always brought joy wherever he appeared and left a significant mark in the world of music," said Ora.

Eccentric fashion on the red carpet

Fashion is the most important sideline of any music event, and celebrities take every opportunity to show off their fashion statement on the red carpet. Bare creations, feathers and eccentric fashion editions marked this year's European Music Awards on MTV.

The hostess Rita Ora changed as many as ten fashion editions during the evening, but the creation she wore on the red carpet was what caught the eye. She stepped out in a glamorous pink dress with feathers, flanked by her husband Taika Waititi, who was dressed in a classic combination – a black suit and a white shirt.

Singer Tayla arrived in a creation inspired by singer Alaia – a dress with a blue animal print and an open slit with feathers.

The brothers John and Edward Grimes, who make up the Irish duo "Jedward", appeared in striking flashy suits, which are completely recognizable for their style.
