In the last few days, the case of the disabled woman from Veles, Biljana Gavrilova-Stankovska, who received a fine of 3.000 denars from JP City Parking Skopje because she parked in a place marked for people with disabilities, has been on social media for the past few days. She then received an apology from the director of the public company, Krste Petrevski, after which she was returned the funds she allocated to remove her blocker.

She on her "Facebook” profile shared the story, which then quickly spread across the media. Gavrilova-Stankovska was parked in the parking lot at the intercity bus station in Skopje in a parking space marked for persons with disabilities, with a car that had the appropriate markings, as well as with an SMS message sent for electronic payment of the parking, because according to the authorities, the meats were intended only for vehicles with Skopje registrations.

– The reasoning I got was "you are from another city and you are not allowed to park". I told them, why don't you write that this parking is valid only for vehicles from Skopje. However, knowing that the City of Skopje does not allow free parking for vehicles from other cities that carry a sign for a person with a disability, we duly sent each other an SMS message.

She in a conversation with "A1On” explains that JP City Parking told her that "the message is not valid when you are parked in a disabled spot". She explains that in other cities in the country it is not a problem to park in a disabled spot with a disabled vehicle even though you are from another city, and according to her "only Skopje has a discriminatory rule".

- My case is not the only one, and this is the second time this has happened to me. I didn't text the first time because we didn't know that handicapped parking was prohibited from another city. Why should only people from Skopje park? I will file a complaint with the Discrimination Commission. "Mobility Macedonia" association stands behind me and we will fight this fight to the end - says Gavrilova-Stankovska.
