Iotova commented on Petkov's statement about Macedonia: There is something unsaid, if he agreed on something we should know

There was something unsaid in yesterday's video of Prime Minister Kiril Petkov, commented the Bulgarian Vice President Iliana Iotova in Sozopol. On Friday, Petkov released a video calling on the President to convene the National Security Advisory Council.

"We will see what the president's decision will be." "He will make an analysis and make a decision," Iotova said.

"The Bulgarian prime minister yesterday justified his decision with international pressure, but did not allow us to hear other arguments - is there a change in conditions, are there new results from Northern Macedonia," Iotova said.

"On January 10, there was an almost 5-hour meeting of the Consultative Council, after which it came out with a consolidated national position with two elements - that we can not meet the deadlines, that we are waiting for concrete results. If the Prime Minister has arguments in this direction, it was good to hear them. His arguments were considered yesterday. "If the government has reached guarantees and agreements, we need to know them," Iotova was quoted as saying by Bulgaria's Nova TV.

"I had a feeling something had happened. At the end of the working day, suddenly so unexpected. "If we use the ways of expression and the style of government - something implicit has happened," Jotova commented.

Yesterday, Bulgarian Prime Minister Petkov in a video address called on President Radev to convene the National Security Consultative Council on the state of negotiations between Bulgaria and Northern Macedonia.

Prime Minister Petkov stressed that the Bulgarian government would do nothing without a broad national agreement and in accordance with the coalition agreement.

"All parties, all services and the presidential institution should participate in the National Security Consultative Council. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will submit a report on the state of negotiations between Bulgaria and Northern Macedonia. "This report will be discussed next week at the regular coalition council," Petkov said.

He confirms that the cabinet will not do anything based on external pressure and before a full understanding at the level of the coalition council, an in-depth discussion in the Consultative Council and without a clear and affirmative position from the highest body in this country: the Bulgarian Parliament.

"Only the National Assembly has the final legitimate mandate on the topic of Northern Macedonia and it must be absolutely clear to the entire Bulgarian society and to our external partners," Petkov concluded.
