Romania is in negotiations with USA and France on ways to increase the number of their troops in the country and is ready to host an increased NATO military presence, the country's president said. Klaus Johannes, transmits Reuters.

The Pentagon has previously said it has put about 8.500 US troops on high alert and is awaiting orders to deploy NATO's east wing, if Russia invades Ukraine. France has also offered to send more troops if needed.

"I have repeatedly said that we are ready to host an increased Allied presence on our territory," Johannes said.

"Following the announcements from the United States and France, we are in contact with both allies to establish concrete ways to realize their military presence.

Dangerous smell of war: US troops sent to Europe, and if Russia fulfills its threats, it will be a major war with severe consequences for the whole world
