Israeli army warns residents of villages in southern Lebanon not to return home
The Israeli army warned residents of dozens of villages in southern Lebanon on Monday not to return to their homes until further notice, a warning that came a day after Israel announced its forces would remain in the area beyond a deadline for their withdrawal, which expires tomorrow.

In a post on Platform X, the Israeli army published a map showing southern Lebanon, ten kilometers from the border with Israel, reminding residents of dozens of villages that they are prohibited from returning to their homes until further notice, due to the risk of continued military action.
"Anyone moving south of this line puts themselves at risk," the statement, reported by Reuters, said.
The US-brokered ceasefire agreement that ended last year's war between the Lebanese militant movement Hezbollah and Israel calls for Israeli forces to withdraw from southern Lebanon, for Hezbollah to withdraw first, and for a ceasefire to be established in the area.
According to the agreement, the deadline for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon is tomorrow, but Israel announced yesterday that the conditions for the withdrawal of its forces have not been fully met, meaning that Israeli forces will still remain in that area.
