A larger number of the liberated Palestinians will be sent into exile.
Earlier, Israel announced the release of 70 Palestinians after Hamas released four female Israeli soldiers who were kidnapped from a base near the Gaza Strip border during an attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023.
It is the second round of exchanges under a ceasefire agreement that came into effect last weekend and is set to halt fighting for at least six weeks. During that period, dozens of Israelis, Hamas hostages and hundreds of Palestinians from Israeli prisons are to be released, as well as the distribution of humanitarian aid to the enclave is to be increased.
The first exchange was on January 18th when three Israeli women were exchanged for 90 Palestinians.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said another female civilian was to be released from Hamas today, saying Israel would not allow Palestinians to return to northern Gaza until she was released.
