VIDEO: Israel sends planes to evacuate Maccabi fans after clashes in Amsterdam
The police arrested 57 people in the center of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, after clashes with fans of an Israeli soccer club Maccabi Tel Aviv.
The clashes happened after the football match between Ajax and Maccabi Tel Aviv in which the Dutch club won 5:0.
Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof condemned the "anti-Semitic attacks", a Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu said two rescue planes had been sent to Amsterdam after what the Israeli military described as "severe and violent incidents against Israelis".
A police spokeswoman told Dutch media that the riots broke out around Dam Square in the city center, but did not specify who was involved.
Fans of the Israeli club Maccabi from Tel Aviv traveled to Amsterdam for the Europa League match against Ajax.
