The same snake under the same stone

Our variety, electoribus macedonicus, also lifts the stone and faints when it sees the snake. And when he regains consciousness, haunted by an instinct he cannot control, he never regains consciousness - he clings to the same stone again to see the same serpent, and then collectively faints.

The two weeks between the first and second rounds of elections are usually a math period. For those who usually think, it is most difficult after the local elections. How do they define, set up, and finally calculate the solution of a system of one miracle of intertwined equations with even more unknowns?

Everyone who remained famous in the second round practically has a minus that they have to make up for with the votes from the set that remained available after the first round, when many unknowns were eliminated. So now a general cannonade of calculations has begun. They all add, subtract, multiply and divide, in order to find a formula that could bring them a positive solution. And if there is no such thing, to attract or force the strangers to adjust them to the equation.

And at the same time, we are talking only about parties and names. It refers to old debts and lending for the future, all in order to reach the majority. That is, they say, politics.

Well, not quite. What happened to the competition of ideas, concepts and sustainable projects. Does anyone say "this concept is dominant over the one", "such and such a vision failed to win the second round" or "voters categorically rejected this idea and opted for it"?

What concepts collide in the second round? In Skopje, in any municipality? Do we even know what the striking projects are from the broader visions of the remaining candidates? What weapons will they clash with in the duel, apart from the strength of the party machinery and the number of its flock?

The campaign listed projects as if they were shaking their sleeves. Some are absolutely impossible to realize, others better never be realized. But if so, let there be more.

Experience shows that hardly anyone can push through their own projects promised four years earlier, not even to clean the city and patch the streets, which is the subsistence minimum for each community, and not a reason to brag and take photos.

There was no clash of visions because there were simply no visions. And I have rarely heard from anyone plans for the development of the municipality beyond the four years they are attacking to be in power. Projects worth continuing by their successor, if he does not reject them "in principle" just because they are not his.

Many would say it would be "political suicide."

So what if. Unfortunately for the parties "not to commit suicide" to condemn to death the valuable ideas?

No, who knows how many times we will accept their calculations and vote out of spite "not to be the one" or "not to lose ours".

A striking scene from the documentary "Wonderful People" by South African director Jamie Eis (better known as the author of "The Gods Fell to the Top") shows a specimen of a papio ursinus baboon, which is a curious creature by nature, lifts a stone and petrifies it. he falls unconscious when he sees a bent snake beneath him. And that is not all. When he regains consciousness after a minute, the urge, stronger than reason, makes him peek under the same stone again, even though he already knows that the same snake is lying there. So he falls petrified again. Until he gets bored.

Our variety, electoribus macedonicus, also lifts the stone and faints when it sees the snake. And when he regains consciousness, haunted by an instinct he cannot control, he never regains consciousness - he clings to the same stone again to see the same serpent, and then collectively faints.
