Iranian scientists have enriched uranium with a concentration of 60 percent

The speaker of the Iranian parliament has said that Iranian scientists have enriched uranium with a concentration of 60 percent - the highest level reached in the Islamic Republic's nuclear program, the Times of Israel reported.

Mohammed Bagher Galibaf posted the message on Twitter five days after the attack on the Natanz nuclear power plant, which Tehran said was the work of Israel. He noted that the enrichment began last night.

Israeli officials have not commented on the attack, to which Tehran has threatened to respond.

Iran is on the verge of 90 percent uranium enrichment, which could allow the country to build an atomic bomb. So far, the Islamic Republic has enriched up to 20 percent uranium purity.
