US attempts to violate Iran's sovereignty on the issue of protests caused by the death of a woman will not go unanswered, Iran's Foreign Ministry said, reported Reuters.

Iran is shaken by national demonstrations caused by the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, after she was detained by police enforcing the Islamic Republic's strict restrictions on women's dress.

The case drew international condemnation. Iran says the US is supporting the rebels and trying to destabilize the Islamic Republic.

"Washington always tries to weaken Iran's stability and security, although it has failed," Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Khanani said in a statement to Noor News, which is affiliated with the top security body.
