Interview with Ilinka Skalovska, musician: It was not easy to study music in Italy at one's own expense, but the effort paid off

Ilinka Skalovska is a renowned musician with a rich biography. She has completed graduate and postgraduate studies in singing, choral conducting and composition at prestigious music conservatories in Italy.

He recently promoted his new song "Nova Iskra", which was, among other things, an occasion to talk with Ilinka in an interview for "Sloboden Pechat".

He recently promoted the song "Nova Iskra". How satisfied are you with the promotion and how the song was received?

- I am satisfied with the promotion, it was quite successful. As for the song, it was released to the public quite a while ago, but the first results and reactions of the audience are very positive. I think he has a good chance of being successful.

Who did you work with on this piece of music, where was the video shot and what is the message you want to send?

– The music, arrangement and lyrics of the song are mine, as well as the vocal-instrumental performance. I did the mixing and mastering with Dejan Milenkovski and Valentino Skenderovski. I shot the video in several beautiful places in Skopje. Through this song, the main message I wanted to give was to convey positivity and hope - things that we need in everyday life and which are figuratively reflected in the title of the song - "New spark".

As a renowned musician with a rich resume, when did you actually discover you had a talent for music?

- Since early childhood, both I and my loved ones have noticed that I have a talent for music. So practically all my life I have been involved in music.

- That period was very beautiful, but also very demanding because it is not easy to study abroad on your own, with your own efforts and at your own expense. However, it allowed me to acquire a wide and useful musical knowledge.

Where does the love for covers of folk songs come from?

- In addition to classical music, I have always been drawn to our folklore and I have wanted to create works that include elements from it and which will thus be a characteristic feature of my compositions.

But what kind of music do you listen to in private?

– I like all music genres because each kind of music is beautiful in its own way. I don't limit myself to just one music style and I listen to different music.

Apart from being involved in music, you also work as a model. Where is the bigger challenge? And how is the engagement in the work as a model going?

- I work as a model only occasionally, but lately I have been creating my own fashion creations, which I may present with modeling in the near future. There are also my costume designs in my music videos.

Like any young girl, how much do you pay attention to your appearance?

- I think that the most important thing to have a good appearance is to lead a healthy life. First of all, I take care of my appearance with exercise, healthy diet, avoiding harmful vices, etc., and make-up and fashion are of secondary importance to me.

What makes you happy and what makes you mad?

– My loved ones make me happy, as do all the people I love. I am also happy with the successes with music, which is an important part of my life. What annoys me, however, is that sometimes I have too many obligations and my life becomes very stressful. I think that's a common occurrence nowadays.
