The interdisciplinary artist Dorothej Neshovski will present his solo exhibition at the MKC
In the gallery of the MKC in Skopje on August 14, at 20 p.m., the independent exhibition "Night forest: uncertain meanings and the path through the unknown" by Dorothej Neshovski will be opened.
– His latest artistic production, which Dorothej Nešovski titles as "Night forest", is a continuation of his research methods long-term dedicated to the transformative potential of several simple formal elements and materials with which he works in different formats: wooden crayons, verticals, shadows, transparent layers, which have the main role in this setting as well.
In Dorothei's artistic practice, they are used not in their obvious function, but as a display of complex formal and metaphorical structures - bearers of uncertain meanings. Wooden crayons form microenvironments that resemble cities or urban objects and formations; the shavings resulting as excess waste material from the process of sharpening the wooden crayons in this case make us wonder what (can) be done with the accumulations of remaining forms and materials. How, through this accumulation of meanings, might we formulate the complex relationship between natural environments and human communities? - points out the visual artist Darko Alexovski, who is the curator of the exhibition and the author of the text for the catalog.
The project is financed by the Prince Claus Fund Seed Award.
