Albania reached record numbers this tourist season, where thousands of foreigners got to know the wonderful beauties of the country. According to INSTAT, the arrivals of foreign citizens for the first 8 months of this year reached almost 7,2 million people, which means an increase of 26,9 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

Only in August, which is the peak of the tourist season, about 2 million foreign citizens entered the country, or 18,3% more than in August last year.

During August 2023, when there was a large influx of tourists, who mainly settled in the coastal areas of Albania, the largest number were from Europe with 1.951.489 citizens. Europe is followed by America and East Asia.

Citizens from Kosovo continue to be the most numerous tourists with about a third of the visitors. This year, for the first time, the Italians came in second place with about 10%, followed by other countries from the region, Montenegro and North Macedonia. On the other hand, during these eight months, the output of Albanians abroad increased by 18,9%. During this period, 4.577.753 Albanians left the country.

According to INSTAT, the number of departures of Albanian citizens from the territory of Albania during the month of August 2023 is 842.940 and compared to the same period of 2022, it has increased by 8,9%.
