Inflation unexpectedly accelerated in Great Britain
Britain's inflation rate unexpectedly accelerated in February, staying in double digits and putting further pressure on the Bank of England to raise interest rates at tomorrow's meeting.
The annual rate of consumer price inflation rose to 10,4 percent in February, the Office for National Statistics said today, up from 10,1 percent in January - higher than the 9,9 percent forecast by the Bank of England and economists polled by Reuters reports Index HR.
Core inflation, which excludes volatile food, energy, alcohol and tobacco prices, also rose strongly to 6,2 percent, from 5,8 percent in the previous month and beat forecasts for a slowdown to 5,7 percent.
