A passenger plane of the Russian national airline Aeroflot had to change its height today in order not to collide with a NATO plane.

Russian officials say the incident took place over the Black Sea when an Aeroflot plane was flying from Tel Aviv to Moscow. The plane, which had 142 passengers on board, had to descend 1.800 meters to avoid a collision. They claim that the crew of the NATO CL-600 did not respond to the warnings.

The North Atlantic Alliance has not yet commented on the incident, reports Reuters.

Tensions between Russia and NATO are rising these days, with Ukraine accusing Russia of piling up military forces on the border and planning an invasion, while Moscow claims Kiev is acting belligerently.

Although Ukraine is not a NATO ally, Alliance forces often act in its favor to protect it from what they call "Russian provocative behavior."
