"Mr Tesla" Elon Musk is set to become the world's first trillionaire by 2027, according to a new report by an organization focused on wealth concentration.

An Informa Connect Academy report on the head of electric car company Tesla, private rocket company SpaceX and social networking platform X (formerly Twitter) comes to this conclusion as Musk's assets grow at an annual rate of 110%.

It is noted that the American businessman, with South African origin, this year received the title of the richest man in the world. His fortune is estimated at $237 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

The academy's 2024 report on the billionaires club was released last Friday.

The Academy's analysis also shows that the founder of the Gautam Adani business group from India would occupy the second position on the list of billionaires. This could be done in 2028 if the annual growth rate of his wealth remains at 123%.

Meanwhile, Jensen Huang, CEO of technology company Nvidia, and Pragioto Pangestu, the Indonesian energy and mining tycoon, could also become trillionaires in 2028 if their wealth remains at the same level.

At the same time, wealthy French businessman Bernard Arnault, head of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton and the world's third-richest person, with an estimated $200 billion, is on track to reach $1 trillion by 2030. In the same year, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Metta, will have such a fortune.

However, as CNBC points out, the question of who could be Earth's first trillionaire has been widely debated since the world's first billionaire emerged in 1916. It was John Rockefeller from the USA, the founder and then the largest shareholder of Standard Oil.

However, many academics warn that the accumulation of enormous wealth is a painful social phenomenon.

The report estimates that the richest people on Earth – who represent 1% of humanity – are responsible for the most carbon emissions – a major driver of the current climate crisis – compared to the poorest who make up 66%.
