Iliev after parting with Arsenal: The injury stole my dream!
Macedonian goalkeeper Dejan Iliev in nine years he did not record a single senior performance for the Premier League giants for Arsenal.
Our goalkeeper suffered a knee injury in 2015 due to which he took a break for 25 months, just when he was on the verge of playing with the best players of the London club.
But 26-year-old Iliev does not regret it, and starts his search for a new club.
- It is obviously sad, I have been at Arsenal for a long time, so I have a connection with the club, I love the place. I went there when I was very young and met a lot of people. I worked with many different coaches and many great players. I had the opportunity to work with my idol when I was growing up, Petr Cech. They are all amazing memories that will stay with me until I die.
There is definitely no regret. I made the right choice by coming to Arsenal and I was very happy until the last day. It is a great club in which I did not improve only on the field, but as a person. I learned a lot of different things and I learned to appreciate different things in life - Iliev said in an interview with Goal.com.
Iliev spent the first half of this season on loan at SKF Sered in Slovakia. It was a loan that started well, but after the injury he lost his place in the squad and struggled to get it back after struggling to get back in shape.
Thus, he returned to Arsenal in January and, after talks with the people from the club, his contract, which was to expire in the summer, was terminated prematurely.
