Icons and frescoes with the image of the Virgin are exhibited in the RSM Museum
In the Museum of RS Macedonia, on December 5, starting at 18:30 p.m., the exhibition "The Virgin's bridge between heaven and earth" will be opened. The icons and frescoes presented in the exhibition are only a small part of the many objects from the Museum's rich collections.
- In part of the Museum's collections there are icons and fresco copies from the entire territory of Macedonia, which represent an important part of the artistic wealth. They are not only works of art, but also spiritual symbols that believers use to connect with the divine.
The image of the Mother of God, as protector and mother, offers comfort and hope, and this makes her one of the most common figures in Christian art, because her life on earth was filled with moral purity, holiness and good deeds. Through her virginal conception of the Savior, she is the bridge between heaven and earth. Over the centuries, numerous themes and cycles related to her image and work, derived from the Old Testament books, have developed - the Museum points out.
Authors of the concept for the exhibition are Marija Petkovska and Tatjana Trajkovic, MA, curators at the Museum.
