IPH: Out of a total of 11.123 new positives on Covid-19, about 60% are Omicron
In the period from January 10 to 16 this year, a total of 11.123 new positive cases of Covid-19 were registered in the country, which is an increase of 33,9% compared to the previous week. A total of 45.401 materials were tested, 14,7% less than the previous seven days, and the percentage of positivity ranged from 21,4% to 30,2%, on average 24,4%, according to the weekly report of the Institute of Public Health.
Most of the registered cases are from Skopje (5.630; 50,6%), and the highest weekly incidence is registered in Krushevo (1.152,4 / 100.000) and Bitola (1.035,5 / 100.000).
Infected persons in all age groups are registered. The most common age group is from 30 to 39 years, and the lowest number is in children up to nine years.
There is an increase in the number of patients in almost all age groups, especially in people over 60 with a growth of 99,6% and those from 50 to 59 with an increase of 90,3% compared to the previous week. There is a minimal decrease in the number of patients in the age groups of 20-29 years (-4,3%) and 10-19 years (-2,5%).
In terms of gender distribution, 6.029 (54,2%) females and 5.094 (45,8%) males were reported.
5.403 people who were hospitalized or treated at home gained the status of "healed".
During the last week, a total of 1.247 reinfections were reported, with an increase of 31,8%
compared to the previous week. Since the beginning of the epidemic, 3.380 reinfections have been registered, which is 1,4% of the total number of infected.
55 deaths were reported in 15 cities, 34,1% more than last week. Most of them are from Skopje (22) and from the age group over 60 years.

detected Omicron variant (B1.1.529). The Omicron variant has been discovered in seven cities and
in: Skopje, Kavadarci, Tetovo, Ohrid, Kocani, Veles and Gevgelija.
According to hospital reports, 439 people are currently hospitalized (25,1% more in
compared to the previous week), of which 251 are on oxygen support and 26 on invasive / non-invasive mechanical ventilation.
Regarding the symptoms reported in the patients, the most commonly registered were fever (59,3%), cough (44,8%) and malaise (43,5%). 62.107 (27,9%) asymptomatic cases were registered.
As of January 16 this year, a total of 245.398 cases of Covid-19 were reported. 8.115 deaths were registered. 16.397 people are currently active, and 220.886 are registered as healed.
