IEA: EU imported 70 percent less gas from Russia in July

In July, the import of Russian natural gas to the European Union decreased by about 70 percent on an annual basis, with average daily volumes below 100 million cubic meters, according to today's announcement of the International Energy Agency (IEA).

In July of last year, the gas imported from Russia to Europe amounted to about 300 million cubic meters per day, and IEA experts for the remaining months of 2022 forecast a drop below the level of 80 million cubic meters per day.

In the first seven months of last year, EU member states imported about 400 million cubic meters of Russian gas per day, while in the same period of the current year, the amounts are already 240 million cubic meters per day.
