The Israeli army (IDF) said today that the target of the attack in Al Mawasi area in Khan Yunis were three senior Hamas officials who were there.

"Three senior Hamas operatives were targeted in an overnight airstrike on an Israeli-designated humanitarian zone in southern Gaza," the IDF said, according to the Times of Israel.

According to the army, they are the head of Hamas's air force, Samer Ismail Kader Abu Dakka, the head of surveillance in Hamas's intelligence department, Osama Tabash, and another senior officer of the group, Ayman Mabhouh.

"All three were directly involved in the October 7 massacre and other attacks on soldiers in Gaza and Israel in recent months," the IDF said.

Hamas claims that 40 people were killed and 60 injured in last night's attack on the camp, which the IDF denies, stating that these are "false figures and do not correspond to the information held by the army".
