Trump's attacker identified, incident investigated as 'attempted murder'
After yesterday's armed incident near Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Root was arrested.
Secret Service agents opened fire on a man armed with a semi-automatic rifle who pointed the weapon at former President Donald Trump's golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida, while he was playing golf.
The Republican presidential candidate is unharmed and safe, police said, and the FBI is investigating the incident as an "attempted murder."
One of the agents saw an assault rifle tipped out of a bush near the golf course, one hole above where Trump was at the time. Secret Service agents fired at least four rounds of ammunition at the suspect. The man then dropped the rifle, two backpacks and other items and fled in a black sports car, no bil arrested in the neighboring area.
After the incident, Trump addressed his supporters via email and told them that he would never surrender.
There was a shooting near me, but before the rumors get out of hand, I wanted you to hear this first: I'M SAFE AND FINE! Nothing will slow me down. I WILL NEVER GIVE UP! Unity. Peace. Let's Make America Great Again. God bless you, Trump wrote.
