Both BiH and the USA were shocked by Izetbegovic's belligerent rhetoric
The US Embassy and Bosnian analysts called the threat "dangerous", "unprovoked" and "meaningless" at a sensitive time of strained political relations over the Electoral Law.
The US Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina strongly condemned the statements of the Bosniak member of the presidency Bakir Izetbegovic, evaluating them as "inflammatory", as well as the response of the Serbian member of the presidency, Milorad Dodik.
- We counted ourselves, how many hunters we have, how many young people, how many drones we have and I won't go further, but just so you know - said Izetbegović at a party meeting of SDA in Hadziqi.
Both the US Embassy and Bosnian analysts called the threat "dangerous", "unprovoked" and "nonsensical" at a sensitive time of strained political relations over the Electoral Law.
- We are shocked and appalled by Bakir Izetbegović's incendiary comments, which predictably provoked an irresponsible response from Milorad Dodik. The citizens of this country survived a brutal war 30 years ago. In 2022, they deserve better than leaders who appeal to ethnic divisions and incite ethnic tensions - the US Embassy announced.
Analyst Enver Kazaz told the newspaper "Dnevni Avaz" that BiH has not had more militant politicians since the end of the war until now, led by co-presidents Izetbegović, Dodik and Čović.
- Instead of worrying about the problems of citizens, poverty, food prices, energy and the difficult winter on the doorstep, Izetbegović threatens his neighbors. It is a blunt, immature speech, bordering on idiocy - Kazaz assessed.
Izetbegović also caused a storm with the announcement that he will complement the mass departure of young people abroad with "high technology and robotics".
- He is not interested in the young people who leave, nor those who stay. For him, young people are a workforce that should fill the budget. It will be easier to keep the power if we are replaced by robots, until they too get "through a gear" from the authorities - activist Slobodan Blagovcanin told the "Buka" portal.
