For the third year in a row, the Croatian National Police Union organized a spa weekend for its members and their families in a well-known hotel in the country, but this year the fellowship did not go well - on Saturday morning, fifty members of the group complained of vomiting, stomach pains and diarrhea , it says "Jutarnji leaf".
The meeting lasted from December 5 to 8, but on Saturday morning, one by one, the trade unionists and their companions started to feel digestive problems. When the situation escalated and there were already several dozen people with symptoms, the trip organizer notified the hotel management, who immediately called the epidemiological service of the Public Health Institute of Medjumurje District. The inspectors went to the field to determine what kind of health problem it is.
Some suspected food poisoning, and in the end it was confirmed that about fifty guests were victims of the norovirus - which really spreads through the consumption of food and drinks, writes the Croatian media.
"Yes, I can confirm that it all really happened." For the third year in a row, we organized a trip to the same hotel, because every year we had a great time there, and the idea was to gather for the members of our Union and their families. However, on Saturday morning people started calling with problems, so we immediately informed the hotel, who then called the epidemiologists. Fortunately, after returning home, no one complained about health problems, so in the end it ended well," said the president of the National Police Union, Bono Tomasevic.
However, there were also guests who were not satisfied with the way the further suppression of the infection was carried out, and especially with the fact that, they claim, they were not officially informed by anyone that there was a spread of norovirus, but they received information about it by chance, through a conversation.
"There was no information about what happened, so no one officially told me that norovirus was present in the hotel, which I think is important because I have an immunocompromised child who was staying with me in the hotel. Not only did they inform us about what was happening, but no one told us that there were epidemiologists in the hotel and there were no instructions on how to proceed," one guest told "Jutarnji list".
