Croatia: Teenager pretended to be a woman to beat and rob Indians

An unusual and worrisome case has been preoccupying the Croatian public these days - the Zagreb police have announced that they have conducted a criminal investigation against a minor resident of the city, who is suspected of robbery and two crimes of inflicting grievous bodily harm.

One of these crimes was an attempt to cause grievous bodily harm to the detriment of two Indian nationals, occur local media.

- There is a suspicion that the suspect arranged a meeting with two foreign citizens through a mobile application on October 5 in the afternoon, introducing himself with a female name. According to the agreement, in the evening, the victims came by taxi to the specified address in the Sesvete area, where the suspect came together with two other people with the intention of seriously injuring them. They were attacked first verbally, and then physically with hands and feet, while one of the attackers had a metal bat with which he hit. In the end, they stole the mobile phone and ran away - said the police.

The teenager is also suspected of having, together with five other unknown men, committed the crime of threatening and damaging other people's property - on October 4, in the morning, they arranged a meeting with a man through a mobile application, posing as a woman. When the victim arrived at the agreed address in the vicinity of Zagreb on the same day in the evening, after a short conversation he headed to the vehicle in which he came with the intention of leaving. But when he got inside, the thugs damaged his door, hood, tore off the rearview mirror and broke the front windshield of the vehicle. During that time, the juvenile suspect threatened the man with a fake gun that looked like a real one, causing the victim to fear for his safety and life, police said.

After the completion of the criminal investigation, the minor ended up in custody within the legal term, and a special report was submitted to the municipal criminal state prosecutor for youth in Zagreb.

The criminal investigation continues to find other suspects, the police statement added.
