A young man (25) from the Croatian town of Delnice, in Gorski Kotar in the west of the country, has been arrested and is in prison in Rijeka, on suspicion of having raped a 16-year-old girl for two weeks, whom he kidnapped and took to a shed. As the local portal finds out "Burin", the gruesome torture took place from October 28 to November 10, at the address in Delnice where the perpetrator lives.

The criminal report states that the rapist tricked the girl into coming from Rijeka to where he lives. Then, according to police, he took her to a wooden shed and locked her there, before raping her at least eight times daily and beating her when she begged him to stop. In addition, the police suspect that he tied her up so that she could not escape, and allegedly refused to give her food and water.

The suspect was brought before the County Court in Rijeka today, where he was remanded in custody. The young man is allegedly unemployed and is said to be illiterate, Croatian media reports.
