Dutch authorities have arrested a suspect in the murder of journalist De Vries
Today, the Dutch authorities arrested a 27-year-old Polish citizen, suspected of having organized the murder of the famous journalist. Peter de Vries, almost exactly one year after the armed attack on him.
The arrested person, whose identity has not been disclosed, is suspected of "ordering those who killed De Vries," the Dutch prosecutor's office said.
They did not release other details, but emphasized that they are continuing the investigation to find out who ordered the murder and the motive.
The 21-year-old Dutchman is on trial for the murder of De Vries Delan G. and the Polish citizen Camille E., and the court should pronounce their verdicts on July 14. Prosecutors asked for life in prison for both.
On 6 July 2021, De Vries was shot at close range in central Amsterdam, succumbing to his injuries nine days later at the age of 64.
