Hill: Serbia is too dependent on Russian energy
The American ambassador in Belgrade, Christopher Hill, in the guest of The diary of Nova.rs stated that the US and Serbia have a lot of topics to talk about these days, so they talk about different things. He emphasized that Serbia is very dependent on Russia when it comes to Russian energy and that the country should be careful in using that energy.
We talked about energy, it is important to deal with the energy crisis that has affected the whole world. Among other things, for Ukraine. We may not agree on everything, but we are ready to talk," said Hill.
The American ambassador in Belgrade said that it is his job to make sure that the Serbian government understands Washington's position, but also understands Belgrade's positions.
"Of course, Serbia has alternative sources of energy. The only question is how quickly they can be put into operation. It can be said that Serbia depends too much on Russian energy sources. In recent months we have seen that Russia is not a particularly reliable source of energy and the Russians combine politics and energy supply. "Serbia desperately needs to diversify its energy sources and we would like to be part of that process," Hill noted.
