Hitchcock's Blackmail to Come to Life with Music Performed by Fame's Institute Students
As part of the Silent and Classic Film Festival of the Cinematheque of Macedonia, in cooperation with "Kino Balkan", on September 16, at 20:XNUMX p.m., an extraordinary film and music event will be held in "Kino Millennium".
Neil Brandt's famous 74-minute score for Alfred Hitchcock's silent film Blackmail (1929) will be premiered live by Fame's Institute students, showcasing the unique power of live orchestral accompaniment for silent films. . The performance will be led by maestro Mirian Huhunaishvili and will turn this timeless thriller into an unforgettable cinema and musical experience.
This performance will be the finale of a one-week orchestral course entitled "Film Music" within the framework of the "Fame's Institute" program, supported by "Creative Europe", which will allow students to gain experience in the field of film music and they work under the mentorship of a conductor with a world reputation.
The students will be under the guidance of Maestro Mirian Huhunaishvili, a conductor known for his dynamic approach and ability to inspire young musicians. Huhunaishvili is the co-founder and music director of the Tbilisi Youth Orchestra and has conducted leading international orchestras, including the Royal Concertgebouw and the Oslo Philharmonic.
Blackmail, one of Hitchcock's early silent films, follows the story of a woman who is drawn into a blackmail plot after she kills a man in self-defense. The film marked a turning point in Hitchcock's career and is recognized as a brilliant investigation into crime, guilt and human psychology.
The soundtrack heightens the film's emotional tension and suspense, adding new layers of complexity to the story. The event will bring together all movie buffs and music lovers to enjoy the unique blend of visual and auditory storytelling. Entry to the event is free.
