Harris condemned China's "disturbing" moves in the Pacific

US Vice President Kamala Harris has condemned China's "troubling" actions in the Pacific, vowing to deepen "informal ties" with Taiwan, days after the US administration announced its forces would defend the island.

"China is undermining key elements of the rules-based international order," Harris said.

"China uses its military and economic power to coerce and intimidate its neighbors. And we have witnessed disturbing behavior in the East China Sea and in the South China Sea, and more recently, provocations across the Taiwan Strait."
