The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced today that in the two-month war between Israel and Hamas, 17.700 people were killed and 48.780 were wounded in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip.

The Hamas government, which has controlled Gaza since 2007, estimates that the actual death toll is much higher because rescue services and foreign NGOs cannot reach all bombed areas and pull victims from the rubble.

More than 1.200 people, mostly civilians, were killed in Israel in the attack carried out by Hamas, and some 240 hostages were taken to Gaza.
