North Korean hackers steal $ 400 million worth of cryptocurrencies in 2021
North Korea carried out seven attacks on cryptocurrency platforms last year and extracted digital assets worth almost $ 400 million, writes Reuters.
"From 2020 to 2021, the number of hacking attacks related to North Korea has increased from four to seven percent, and the value of withdrawn funds has jumped by 40 percent. "When North Korea took control of the assets, it began a careful process of money laundering to cover it up and make money," the report said.
North Korea denies
United Nations experts monitoring sanctions against North Korea have accused Pyongyang of using such thefts to fund nuclear and ballistic missile programs.
North Korea has previously denied having any hackers.
The Americans have accused three North Korean developers
Last year, the United States accused three North Korean developers working for the state intelligence service of stealing $ 1,3 billion in cash and cryptocurrencies for years, damaging companies such as banks and even a Hollywood movie studio.
