Alphabet Inc's Google will delete the location data of visitors to abortion clinics over fears that a digital fingerprint could tip off US police about illegal abortions, the internet search giant said.
State laws restricting abortion took effect after the US Supreme Court ruled last month that abortions are no longer guaranteed by the constitution.
The tech industry is concerned that police could obtain warrants to access customers' search history, geolocation and other information that reveals pregnancy-related plans.
Google said it would continue to fight inappropriate or excessive government requests for data access, without specifically mentioning abortion.
The company says users' location history is turned off by default.
