Greece starts issuing a digital vaccination certificate

The issuance of the digital vaccination certificate begins, it is another Greek innovation, said the Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis during the meeting on the implementation of the national vaccination plan and added that this confirmation does not mean restrictions, but facilitate movement and travel. said the MIA correspondent from Athens.

The Greek Prime Minister explained that the certificate is for confirmation of legal vaccination and is for personal use of citizens and reiterated the proposal to the EU for a "single certificate by European standards".

- I want to emphasize that this is not about any restrictions, but on the contrary it will make it easier for us to get rid of the restrictions that Kovid now imposes on the travels of European citizens. "This is something that especially concerns our tourism and the prospects of our economy, especially in the run-up to the summer season," Mitsotakis said, adding that for now, the proposal has been warmly received.

The specific Greek proposal will be discussed at tomorrow's EU Summit, and Mitsotakis expressed hope that an agreement on a single certification system will be reached.

He stressed that at the Summit he would ask the European Commission to activate for faster approval of other vaccines, but also to put pressure on Pfizer to speed up the production of vaccines so that "the company is consistent with the doses it has committed to deliver to European countries in the first quarter of 2021 ”.

Regarding the vaccination process in Greece, Mitsotakis said that it takes place regularly, with a large participation of both health professionals and citizens over the age of 85, with over 90.000 vaccinated and with almost 400.000 appointments scheduled for vaccination.

- We were vaccinated with the second dose, without absolutely any side effects. And of course, we need to reiterate that these vaccines are sensitive, require special conditions and it is very important not to miss a single dose, said Mitsotakis.

He explained that although the citizens are correct and over 95% do not miss the scheduled appointments for vaccination, still, in order not to lose the vaccines, there is a mechanism, ie if there are unused doses of unused appointments, members of the army and police will be vaccinated.
