Greeks will receive a "Christmas basket" and a "Santa's basket" this year as well.
The traditional holiday baskets that have been introduced in Greek markets and shops in recent years and include seasonal products, will not be missing even for the Christmas and New Year holidays, according to what Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced on Facebook.
Mitsotakis said that from Wednesday, the existing "Household Basket" will be expanded with six additional categories of products, necessary for the festive table, so that the "Christmas Basket" will include turkey, lamb and goat meat, chocolates, milibrod and Christmas cake, while from On December 18, "Santa's Basket" will start with ten categories of toys for the youngest.
- Christmas always brings joy to families, especially children. But it also means additional needs for adults. Therefore, the state must be by their side. Not just with general measures that improve earnings or reduce taxes. Even with targeted initiatives for holiday spending, Mitsotakis wrote on Facebook.
He added that supporting the family "was and remains a priority for the Government".
The "household basket" in Greek supermarkets was introduced in November 2022 and contains over 50 basic products, and it is the practice of the Greek Government at certain times of the year, such as Christmas and Easter, to supplement with seasonal products.
