Greece: A total of 50 cases of monkeypox
A total of 50 cases of monkeypox have been confirmed in Greece, two more than last week, according to the weekly report of the National Public Health Organization (EODI), the MIA correspondent from Athens reported.
The confirmed cases are men from 19 to 59 years old, that is, the average age is 36 years, and 16 of the infected (32 percent) reported traveling abroad during the incubation period of the disease.
EODI announced that the cases have already recovered or are recovering in a generally good clinical condition.
It also adds that in Europe, by August 16, 2022, 18.960 cases of monkeypox have been registered in 43 countries.
The first case in Greece was registered at the beginning of June.
As MIA announced yesterday, the Minister of Health of Greece Thanos Pleuris announced that on Tuesday about 2300 doses of the vaccine against monkeypox arrived in the country, and next week the Immunization Commission will hold a meeting on the method and conditions for vaccination.
In addition to vaccines, Greece is in coordination with the European Commission for the procurement of 100 therapies.
