Greece supported the United States, Qatar and Egypt for a ceasefire in Gaza
Greece fully supports the joint statement of August 8 by the leaders of the United States, Egypt and Qatar on a cease-fire agreement in Gaza and the release of hostages, the Greek MFA announced through the "X" platform, the MIA correspondent from Athens reported.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece appealed for the conclusion of the agreement soon, which will be based on "the principles stated by President Biden on May 31, 2024 and approved by the resolution 2735 of the UN Security Council."
- This would lay the foundation for achieving de-escalation and promoting peace in the region, the Greek MFA added.
In a joint statement, the United States, Qatar and Egypt on Thursday urged Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas to resume negotiations on a Gaza ceasefire and an August 15 hostage release deal.
